Silhouette WPAP vector image design

How do I create vector, silhouette or WPAP designs?

The silhouette is the effect produced in photography because of the significant difference between the reflection of the main object on the front of the image and the background. To produce a silhouette, the light from the back of the object must be very bright then captured by measuring the luminance of the background light.

While vector images are images that use polygons (lines) to create images on computer graphics.
WPAP is also often called a photo with tracing techniques and the resulting image is a combination of various forms of rigid fields or cubism. There is no curvature at all. WPAP was popularized by Indonesian artists, Wedha Abdul Rasyid, famous to foreign countries.

Okay, just go ahead, still with what kind of photosop.

Open Photoshop

File> New
Change Presets to International Papper, Size A3 and Resolution 200-300

Open the image you want to edit
File> Open
After open click Image> Image Size, change Resolution to 300
so that the resolution is the same as the Canvas created earlier

On the Layer on the right, right-click on the background then OK
(so we can edit the image)
Then right-click on background> Duplicate Layer> OK
Now we have 2 images, background, background copy




Remove the eye mark on the background layer

LAYERS panel

Select background copy
On the menu select Image> Adjustments> Treshold
Then the Treshold box will appear, set left / right as you wish> OK

The image will turn black and white
When zooming on the sides / edges of the image is still not smooth

To smooth it flat
Select Select> Color Range menu
In the color range box, select select to black and fuzziness to about 80> OK
Then the black image will be selected (dashed line)

Press Shift + Ctrl + N on the keyboard click OK (create a new layer)
And remove the eye mark on the Background copy layer

Now look for the PATCHS Panel on the right> select the dashes to the right> New Patch> OK
As shown below

We will create the outline of the image that we selected earlier
Select Make Work Patch
Fill Tolerance 2 px> OK (line size / indentation level)

And now we will color the contents
Select Fill Patch> change use to Black> OK

Still on the PATCHS panel
Now we have 2 patches, namely Patch 1 and Work Patch
Right-click delete in Work Patch (then the edges will disappear)

Now go back to the LAYERS panel
When zooming the outline will look neater than before we patched it.

And Silhouette images are ready for screen printing film printouts for manual screen printing.

By using techniques like this, you can also prototype to create images like WPAP and vector by adding a color field using Shape Layer on the Pen Tool then just adjust the matching colors.

While the WPAP is better to use a printing machine, but if you want to go through a manual screen printing process, use the separation technique (color separation) and combine 1 color in 1 screen. Like the top picture only uses 4 colors in black. good luck
