What is Resolution in computer design
For designers or photographers, it must be familiar to hear the word resolution.
Resolution is the pixel density in an image. Image resolution is measured by pixel density in 1 inch (pixels per inch / ppi or dots per inch / dpi). A resolution of 1 ppi means that there is one square inch, and a resolution of 300 ppi means that there are 300 pixels per square inch.
The point is that the greater the resolution of an image, the more pixels in the image and the more detailed the image will appear. Well after this you will know why files containing high-resolution images or images have a large size too, because the pixels contained in them are also getting denser and more numerous.
Resolution is measured by the number of pixels per inch or dots per inch. Dpi is used to indicate the number of pixels per inch in a digital image. If you scan an image, usually the size used is ppi (Pixels per inch). Meanwhile, dpi / lpi is usually used as a measurement on the printer to indicate the number of dots that must be printed per inch.
In Photoshop, you can usually set the image resolution in pixels per inch or pixels per centimeter. The need for this resolution depends on the use of the image itself.
For offset or printing and film printing for screen printing, you can use a resolution of 200 to 300 dpi. Usually in the process of making raster films.
Meanwhile, for outdoor and indoor printing, you can use a resolution of 100 to 150 dpi.
And for website content or banners, you can use a resolution of 72 dpi
