How to Make Custom Shoes for Beginners

Shoes are footwear as well as one fashion item for someone, shoes are simple items but not many people can make shoes.
Basically everyone can make shoes if he wants to learn and is diligent in making shoes, because in making shoes one must have skills in it and a plus for people who like art because in shoe design we can make patterns well.

1. Determine the Model
Model Shoes

If we want to make shoes, we must know the type of shoes and their needs. Examples of high heels / high heels, flat shoes, pumps, wedges and even sandals.

2. Creating / designing patterns
Shoe last

Make a pattern first. The pattern that will be created comes from the design that has been created and from the pattern retrieval in Shoe Last. Manually making patterns usually uses geometry methods (for those who are smart in mathematics), and the method of copying lasts directly or copy of last.

What is a Shoe Last?
ShoeLast is the basic shape of a shoe similar to our feet. There are shoes made from wood or from Fiber / PVC material.

Last / Sulas is wood or plastic which is shaped according to the shape of a human leg, Last / Sulas has various sizes ranging from baby size to European foot size.

Besides the pattern you also have to pay attention to Sol / Sole (the base / bottom area). There are several types of sole namely,

RUBBER SOLE

Rubber sole or commonly we call this rubber sole is often used for safety shoes or field shoes such as, safety shoes, PDL-PDH shoes, sport shoes, mountain shoes, fantovel shoes, leather shoes, rider shoes, custom shoes etc., sole made from This rubber does not have expired (expired), rubber sole is in addition to strong and flexible, this sole can also add stitches on the side in the glue and press. But there is also a lack of this sole which is heavier and more slippery.

The excess: Strong and more flexible than other materials.
Weakness: More slippery than other material sole and heavier.

PU (POLYRETHINE)
Sole pu (polyrethine) material is a sole that is anti-slip and lightweight and also light resistant to oil (oil resistant) when compared with other sole made, this pu sole is relatively expensive, and also has an expired date or expiration, if it expires then This pu-made sole will break itself like a piece of bread if left for a long time. often used for baby shoes, wedges shoes, vans converse shoes and the like, flat shoes, ballet shoes etc.

The advantages: Oil resistant (oil resistant), anti slip & lighter.
The drawback: Having an expired date if the old sole is not used it will be easily destroyed, even it can be destroyed itself like a bread if left for a long time, the price is more expensive than the sole of other ingredients.

TPR (THERMO PLASTIC RUBBER)
Sole with this material is a mixture of plastic and rubber materials but the sole made from this has a disadvantage that is less elastic, usually the sole made from this material is suitable for the use of waterproof shoes, because the material uses a mixture of plastic and rubber, the sole is not slippery.

Pros: Light, more doormat if used in a place with water.
Disadvantages: Less elastic.

PVC (POLYVINYL CHLORIDE)
Made of more plastic material and less rubber.

Pros: Sole is lighter & harder.
Disadvantages: Slippery and less elastic.

SPONGE OUTSOLE
Sole with this material is usually used for spongy casual sandals.

3. Forming a Shoe Pattern

The basic pattern of our shoes can be the result of taking the collision from the Shoelast which we have completed drawing with precision calculations related to our image. This is important considering how high the material used to cover the soles of our feet, then the meeting point between the folds of the back of the foot so that if the shoe has not formed a wrinkle on the material.
This archetype also determines what kind of soles we will use later. Is it high? Or even short soles all start from making these shoe patterns.

4. Cutting and Stitching Shoe patterns

After getting the shoe pattern as we want, we will apply it to the material we will make shoes. After the shoe pattern has been made, we have to sew it. There are several types of shoe materials, namely.

Suede Material (Suede Material), Nubuck Leather (Nubuck Leather has textures that are smoother and stronger than suede), Genuine Leather (Genuine Leather On, Genuine Leather or genuine leather generally comes from animal skins such as cattle, goats, sheep and pigs), Synthetic Leather (Faux Leather), Canvas Material (Canvas Material), Denim or Jeans Material

5. Making Sol

The last touch is that we put the sol, as explained earlier, that this sol has several types. There are also shoe soles that have already been made, and there are also shoe soles that we have to manually form based on the patterns we have made, can also add rights to this process.
The soles of these shoes also depend on us, whether we want rubber soles, leather and so on.
